Meet Carlea
I've experienced cancer intimately in my life. At 30 years old, I was diagnosed with stage II breast cancer. More than a decade earlier, at 19, I lost my sister to a rare melanoma.
I know the overwhelm, the fear, the uncertainty. I wanted support. I wanted to hear from people who knew cancer firsthand, but I didn’t have the time or energy to show up to support groups. I hated checking the mail–the piles of boring white envelopes containing test results and bills–which is why I created this monthly mail offering. A brighter spot to find in your mail stack each month.
The cards, letters, and notes I received during the hardest years of my life reminded me just how much a simple piece of mail can mean.
Our email inboxes and social media algorithms are overwhelming. I am very intentionally choosing not to send an email newsletter. I won't require you to download an app to benefit.
My mission is to spread the joy of snail mail to the people who need it most.
I live in Austin, TX with my husband, cat (Raven), and dog (Ladybird). I love coffee, outdoor walks, traveling, yoga, spending time with my family, and dining out in Austin's vibrant food scene.
